CL at the Classical Spectacular - Royal Albert Hall

Posted On: 24 March 2022

On Friday 18th March 2022, the children in Years 5 and 6 had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Royal Albert Hall to see ‘Classical Spectacular’, a classical music show with a difference! There were ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ right from the beginning as the sound of the theme from ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ filled the auditorium, along with lasers and a light show. This was to be continued throughout the show, where the children were treated to performances of famous musical pieces, including ‘Pomp and Circumstance’, ‘Bolero’, ‘Nessun Dorma’ and ‘Jupiter’ from the Planets Suite, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with special guests, singers Timothy Richards and Ilona Domnich, and percussive guitarist Marcin Patrzalek.

The children were mesmerised by the music and the orchestra, which was made even more spectacular by the accompanying lights, lasers and fireworks, in such an iconic venue… not to mention that we were sat in the posh seats! A wonderful day was had by all and, as always, the children were impeccably behaved and gave an excellent account of themselves. Hopefully, this will be an experience that the children will remember and talk about for a long time!
