Church Langley Remembers

After the planned performance was rained off on Friday, the children finally made it outside on Monday morning. Dressed as people from the war, the whole school came together on the playground to perform for friends and family as part of Church Langley’s VE Day celebrations. During the performance the children sang a variety of traditional war songs including: ‘Pack up your Troubles’, ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’ and ‘They’ll Always be an England’. To add to the authenticity of the day the children listened to Winston Churchill announcing the end of the war; ‘God Save the King’ was sung by all before the children celebrated by waving their Union Jack flags and singing ‘Land of Hope and Glory’. A fantastic time was had by all! The children (and staff) made an amazing effort with their costumes and really did look as though they had just stepped out of the war.
