Church Langley achieves Virtual Sporting Success

Posted On: 20 November 2020

Once again, despite the additional challenges caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic, the pupils of Church Langley Primary School have succeeded in various sporting arenas this term – albeit virtual ones. The children from Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in a series of sportshall athletics challenges (standing long jump, vertical jump, chest push, shuttle runs and speed bounce) during their PE sessions. Results were recorded, verified and entered into the Harlow School’s competition. Amazingly, the children from Years 5 and 6 came in first place with a score of 2448, whilst the Year 4’s were narrowly edged into second place with a score of 1858. The older winning team’s score has now qualified for the Essex County Finals taking place later in the term.

Not to be outdone by the athletes, the Cheerleading squad from Year 6 were fiercely keen to defend their ‘CONSECUTIVE’ Harlow and Essex County Finals Trophies. Under the expert tuition of Mikey Smith from Oblivion Allstars, the Year 6 boys and girls practised hard and were over the moon to secure the Harlow Award for the third year running! Unfortunately, during to the need to self-isolate, they were not able to re-film their routine in line with the County Final regulations. Additionally, we were able to enter a small Year 4 team who worked so hard on their routine; amazingly this team came runners-up in a large group of entries.
