Church Langley team crowned Essex County Basketball Champions

    ESSEX COUNTY CHAMPIONS!

Yet again the hard work, determination and efforts put in by the children (and adults!) of Church Langley has been rewarded. Amazingly, Church Langley Primary School are now the Essex County Basketball Champions for 2016 - and we are all incredibly proud of them.

The tournament (played at Mark Hall Academy Sports Centre) was a long and difficult one for the 10 players of Church Langley’s A team; the rules encourage more physical play, with persistent fouling, blocking and contact an alien feature to our children. However after a very steep learning curve in the first game, and with some encouragement from Mrs Pardoe, the team battled their way through various group stages and the Super 8 finals, to set up a final against last year's finalists Allen Court. Church Langley dominated the final, winning 13-0 and taking the County trophy.

In addition to the personal accolade for the school and the children involved, this is great achievement for all the primary schools in Harlow who continue to make the local events of such a high standard that our winning teams are able to compete on an even footing at County Level. Through the support of Mrs Ward, Church Langley enables Mr Stacey to organise all of these sporting events in his additional role as School Games Organiser for Harlow.
