Sports Leaders shine at Mini Olympics event

Posted On: 07 July 2018

Can you believe that this time last year the Mini-Olympics witnessed thunder and rainfall? This year the weather Gods continue to try their best to disrupt us…but we won’t be beaten.

This year’s event was the biggest so far, with an amazing 28 teams – approximately 400 children – who all braved the intense heat to make this a resounding success. Children from Years 1 and 2 came together to run, jump, throw, chase, crawl, duck, slide and dodge their way through a series of 7 activities, all marshalled by the guidance of Church Langley’s amazing Sports Leaders.

Both the morning and the afternoon events were really well-attended, with teams from: St Nicholas, Tanys Dell, Pear Tree Mead, Water Lane, Jerounds, Henry Moore, St Lukes, St James, Hatfield Heath, Fawbert and Barnard and Nazeing joining a record 10 of teams from Church Langley in the annual extravaganza. With music accompanying the activities, the children had a great time – the adults and spectators enjoyed themselves too. All the children received a ‘Gold’ medal for their efforts, presented by one of the 98 Sports Leaders used.

Thanks were given to all the staff at Church Langley who once again went above and beyond the call of duty to organise such an amazingly worthwhile event. There were many parents and family members spectating who commented on the children's enjoyment; Mr Stacey received great praise from other school staff for such a well run event, with special praise given to the outstanding contribution by the Sports Leaders - they were truly amazing and once again represented Church Langley with great pride.
