Sports 4 All Afternoon

3rd October 2025

Location: All Weather Pitch

Sports for All Afternoon

For those people who are new to the school, Sports for All Afternoon (which is taking place this Friday) is our annual school sports ‘day’. The children will compete in their House Teams rotating through eight different fun sporting activities collecting points as they go. The winning team will be the one with the most points at the end of the afternoon.

Please ensure that the children have their PE kit in school, as they will be changing into their shorts or jogging bottoms. Each child will wear a t-shirt in their House Team colours and if the weather is warm a matching cap to protect their head. The children will wear plimsols or trainers on the astro turf, but these are usually already in school – if not please send them in.

Today, we will be sending home an envelope containing two tickets for admission to Sports for All afternoon. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING THESE WITH YOU ON FRIDAY AS YOU WILL NEED THEM TO BE ADMITTED. We are unable to accommodate buggies on the astro turf as the space for spectators is limited, so, if you have little ones, please arrange for them to be in body carriers not prams or buggies.

Your tickets will indicate which House Team your child is in (blue = Rutherford, yellow = Ennis, green = Farah, purple = Pendleton, orange = Hoy, red = Ainslie, white = Grainger but the children will be wearing black t-shirts and grey = Brownlee and the children will be wearing brown t-shirts) and on the back of your tickets it will tell you whether you need to be on the A or the B side of the astro. The field itself will be labelled to assist you in finding your way and there will be plenty of staff on hand to guide you in the right direction. Siblings are in the same House and will be on the A or B side together.

The weather forecast for Friday is not great, with a high possibility of rain. If we decide to cancel, we will let you know - please do not ring in on Friday morning, as we will judge the weather throughout the morning before making any decision. If we decide to proceed and experience light rain once on the astro turf, we have showerproof jackets that will be distributed to all children. Unfortunately, the weather is the one thing we cannot legislate for, but we have done Sports for All at this time of year for over twenty years now and have only had to cancel once. Conversely, the weather in the summer has been too hot for the past few years and heat exhaustion is more damaging than rain – just in case you are wondering why we organise Sports for All at this time of year!

We look forward to welcoming you from 1.10 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
