Victorian Day - Reception and KS1 (Years 1 and 2)
18th March 2020
Advanced Notice for parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
We are planning to hold a historic re-enactment day for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 on Wednesday 18th March 2020, the theme of which is a Victorian school day. The children will need to come to school on that day dressed as a Victorian child and we thought we would let you know in advance so that you can begin thinking about their costume. For boys this is quite simple, school trousers tucked in long grey/black socks, with a white short, waistcoat and flat cap is fairly typical and for girls a white full-length apron over a dress with a mop cap is ideal.
We will send out more information about the day after the half term break, but you can get ideas about typical costumes by typing ‘clothing worn by Victorian children’ into a search engine (we are aiming for the ‘poor’ look rather than the ‘posh’ look – these are terms used online, not the school’s terminology).
