Mini Olympics a BIG success at Church Langley

Posted On: 29 June 2015

This year's annual Mini-Olympics festival at Church Langley Primary School was a resounding success with over 300 children from Years 1 and 2 involved and the sun blazing down overhead. Children from Jerounds, Tanys Dell, Fawbert and Barnard, Henry Moore, Hatfield Heath, Nazeing, Milwards, Harlowbury, St James, Pear Tree Mead, St Nicholas and Church Langley competed in a series of athletic activities, all to the backdrop of pop music. Teams of 12 attended in either the morning or afternoon slot and were guided fantastically by nearly 50 Year 5/6 Sports Leaders from Church Langley, who looked great in their pink, polo shirts! Unfortunately 3 teams were unable to make it to the morning slot and, as the event doesn't really work smoothly without 12 teams, additional Church Langley pupils were drafted in at short notice. In the afternoon, the unexpected arrival of Pear Tree Mead meant a quick reshuffle for the CL staff - as always they work tirelessly to ensure maximum participation and enjoyment!

David Stacey, SGO for Harlow and Deputy Head teacher of Church Langley Primary School thanked all the family supporters, the staff, the sports leaders and all the children who had a blast; each child received a gold medal for their outstanding achievements. A special mention was given to Miss Lewis, Mrs Lott and Mrs Pardoe whose preparation before the event ensured that the children and Sports Leaders were ready for the day. Another really proud day in the history of Church Langley - well done all!
